It speeds up Web Servers by caching frequent requests such as caching web, DNS, and other queries from a large group of people sharing network resources to aid in security by filtering traffic.Squid is primarily used for HTTP and FTP, but also supports other protocols such as TLS, SSL, Internet Gopher, and HTTPS. The latest development version of squid is 3.1 includes IPv6 and ICAP support.
